Korea National University of Arts (K-Arts)
is a VCU International Partnership University, which allows students to study in Seoul, South Korea for a semester or a year. Established in 1993, K-Arts is the only national university of arts with an aim to serve as a leading institution which cultivates artists. Students pay tuition to VCU, and pay their room and board directly to K-Arts. Students are housed in university dormitories, in shared rooms.

Students will register for classes one week before the beginning of the semester through the online registration system, Nuri System (http://nuri.karts.ac.kr). Courses available to students can be accessed on the website of the K-Arts school of interest by clicking "Course List Download."
Most classes are taught in Korean though some classes are offered in English; please inquire with VCU Education Abroad to determine if your field of study will offer instruction in English during the semester in which you wish to study at K-Arts. Korean language courses are available during the semester for academic credit at the beginning and intermediate level.

Filmmaking, Acting, Playwriting, Creative Writing, Musicology, Art Theory(Art History), and all Korean Traditional Arts majors

and list the days and times you are available to meet over a two week period. Applicants must have the endorsement of their department to participate in the exchange.
Students must have a 2.75 GPA to apply and are selected on the basis of their academic record and emotional maturity. Applications should be submitted to the Education Abroad office by April 15 for the fall semester or for a full year and Oct. 15 for the spring semester so that your application can be forwarded in time to meet K-Arts deadlines (April 30, 2016 and November 4, 2016). ). Students will need to obtain two recommendations/nominations from their department.
The following application pieces are required in addition to VCU's online application for exchange:
Study plan (statement of purpose)
Certificate of enrollment (provided by VCU Education Abroad upon request)
2 recommendation letters
1 passport sized photograph
Copy of valid passport
Portfolio (no given format)
Medical clearance (results of general check-up including vaccinations)
Transfer of credit:
Students must earn the equivalent of a C grade or higher in a given course to be eligible for transfer credit. Students are required to take the necessary steps to ensure that transcripts are received from the university upon return to VCU. Your grades at K-Arts will not be calculated in your GPA, unless you are attempting to graduate with Latin honors.
On-campus housing is available to accepted international students, though spaces are limited so it is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Dormitories are triple rooms only and students must abide by all deadlines for application and payments.
Housing application deadline:
July 20 for fall semester; January 20 for spring semester
A housing application form must be completed upon acceptance confirmation.
On-campus housing is very inexpensive compared to housing in the US. The housing fee is 480,000 KRW per semester (for a 15 week semester: approximately $480). If students wish to stay in on-campus accommodations beyond the dates of the semester, they may pay per extra day.
Estimated living expenses:

Airport is provided by the university for an extra cost of $70 USD.
Tuition and fees:
Tuition for VCU students is based on VCU tuition and fees. Room and board are paid directly to K-Arts.
Orientation and fees:
Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to Seoul.
