Advising:

Interested students are strongly encouraged to meet with Sarah Carrier prior to applying to this program. When contacting her for an advising appointment, please email her at syoung8@vcu.edu and list the days and times you are available to meet over a two week period.  Applicants must have the endorsement of their department to participate in the exchange.

To Apply:

Students must have a 2.75 GPA to apply and are selected on the basis of their academic record and emotional maturity. Applications should be submitted to the Education Abroad office by April 15 for the fall semester or for a full year and Oct. 15 for the spring semester so that your application can be forwarded in time to meet K-Arts deadlines. Applicants should complete the VCU Education Abroad online application for study abroad and K-Arts application form. Students will need to obtain two recommendations/nominations from their department.

The following application pieces are required in addition to VCU's online application for exchange:
Application
Study plan (statement of purpose)
Official transcript
Certificate of enrollment (provided by VCU Education Abroad upon request)
2 recommendation letters
1 passport sized photograph
Copy of valid passport
Portfolio (no given format)
Medical clearance (results of general check-up including vaccinations)

Transfer of credit:

Students must earn the equivalent of a C grade or higher in a given course to be eligible for transfer credit. Students are required to take the necessary steps to ensure that transcripts are received from the university upon return to VCU. Your grades at K-Arts will not be calculated in your GPA, unless you are attempting to graduate with Latin honors.

Housing:

On-campus housing is available to accepted international students, though spaces are limited so it is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Dormitories are triple rooms only and students must abide by all deadlines for application and payments.

Housing application deadline: July 20 for fall semester; January 20 for spring semester

A housing application form must be completed upon acceptance confirmation.

On-campus housing is very inexpensive compared to housing in the US.  The housing fee is 480,000 KRW per semester (for a 15 week semester: approximately $480). If students wish to stay in on-campus accommodations beyond the dates of the semester, they may pay per extra day.

Estimated living expenses:

Living expenses in Seoul are quite high and average students spend an additional $500 per month above the cost of housing.  For more information, visit www.studyinkorea.go.kr

Airport pick-up:

Airport is provided by the university for an extra cost of $70 USD.

Tuition and fees:

Tuition for VCU students is based on VCU tuition and fees. Room and board are paid directly to K-Arts.

Travel information:

Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to Seoul.
