An International Independent study is for students independently engaging in international education.  

If you are a VCU student traveling abroad as a component of a VCU course in which you are or will be enrolled, you must complete the online International Independent Study application. An international independent study occurs when a student enrolled in a course for VCU credit travels abroad to fulfill requirements of the course.  An international independent study may include, but is not limited to, independent study courses, medical electives, and internship courses.  Please only complete the International Independent Study application if you are enrolled in a VCU course for academic credit.

When beginning a registration for a VCU Education Abroad Program, participants will be prompted to pay the following non-refundable Education Abroad Administration Fee, also known as the program's Commitment Deposit. The Commitment Deposit is approved by VCU’s Board of Visitors. Please do not pay the commitment deposit unless you are ready to fully commit to this program and participation.

• $450 Education Abroad Commitment Deposit: required for applicants to all education abroad programs 

Note: VCU faculty-led programs are not considered an International Independent Study.
