Bauhaus University is located in Weimar, Germany and specializes in the artistic and technical fields. The name Bauhaus has long stood for eagerness to experiment, openness, and creativity. Building on the tradition of the Bauhaus movement, all the faculties are involved in designing and developing public spaces. To Apply:
Students who are interested in applying to the Bauhaus exchange program must contact the VCU Urban Planning Department and submit a letter of interest to the department. If selected for the program, students will then complete the online application for the Bauhaus exchange. For application assistance, contact Ms. Sarah Carrier at

Note: Students must be recommended by the VCU Urban Planning Department in order to participate in the Bauhaus exchange program.
Curriculum:
The exchange program at Bauhaus University gives VCU students the opportunity to earn urban planning credits. Students are able to study courses alongside German and other international students. They will register for a German language course as well as several urban planning courses. Participants will select their courses upon arrival at Bauhaus University.
The German Language Course
Transfer of credit:
Students must earn the equivalent of a C grade or higher in a given course to be eligible for transfer credit. Students are required to take the necessary steps to ensure that transcripts are sent from Bauhaus to VCU Education Abroad.
Academic calendar:
This exchange program is only available for the Spring semester. Students will arrive to Bauhaus in late February/early March for their German intensive language course and will begin Urban Planning coursework after completion of their language course. The semester ends mid to late June.
Housing
The
International Office at Bauhaus will assist students in identifying affordable housing. There is an online pinboard system sponsored by Bauhaus University that assists students in finding shared student accommodation. Students can also look online or in the newspaper for accommodation.
Tuition and fees:
Tuition for VCU students is based on VCU tuition and fees.
Orientation:
The International Office will provide an orientation for students and assist with class registration.
Travel information:
Students are responsible for making their own travel arrangements, including transportation from the airport to Bauhaus University. Directions from the airport to the university will be included in the acceptance package.
